IIT Guwahati hosts ground-breaking International workshop on Dam safety

Guwahati: The Technology Innovation Hub at IIT Guwahati, in collaboration with Shijay Projects India Private Limited, recently hosted the prestigious International Workshop on Dam Safety 2024. This landmark event, held at the IIT Guwahati campus, brought together a consortium of distinguished experts, scholars, and industry leaders to address critical issues and advancements in dam safety protocols.

Opened with an inaugural session featuring keynote addresses from eminent figures such as Prof. Subashisa Dutta, Prof. S. K. Dwivedy, and Prof. Nisith R. Mandal. These sessions set the stage for an enriching discourse on enhancing the safety and reliability of dam infrastructure through cutting-edge technologies and legislative frameworks.

A highlight of the workshop was the insightful panel discussion led by Prof. Sajal K. Deb and coordinated by Dr. Monjusha Sarmah, focusing on advanced monitoring, retrofitting, and rehabilitation strategies. Experts including Prof. Anjan Dutta and Prof. Arunasis Chakraborty highlighted the critical importance of structural health monitoring and rehabilitation techniques for concrete gravity dams.

In his closing remarks, Prof. S. K. Dwivedy emphasized the workshop's significance in fostering collaboration and innovation in infrastructure safety.
