New Delhi: Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) reported a revenue of Rs 70 crore in August, which is 37.5 pc more than the Rs 51 crore earned in the same month last year. The amount was significantly greater than Rs 58 crore recorded in August 2022.

According to a statement from HRTC, the significant increase is a result of closely monitoring revenue goals, conducting regular reviews, streamlining routes, and the corporation's dedication to maintaining operations during the heavy impact of monsoon rains and route disturbances.

The company made an additional Rs 48 crore in the initial five months (April-August) of 2024 than in the corresponding period of the previous year. It was mentioned that despite a decrease in government grants, HRTC has managed to pay its suppliers promptly for spare parts and diesel, and fulfill its salary obligations, thanks to the rise in revenue.

HRTC mentioned that its new ticket and inventory systems have greatly improved convenience for passengers and helped in cost management, with expected revenue to surpass last year by up to Rs 80 crore.
