Guwahati: PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) on March 4, 2023 hosted the NORTH EAST INFRASTRUCTURE CONCLAVE-INVESTMENT GATEWAY TO INDIA in Guwahati to showcase and disseminate information about the Initiatives regarding the ongoing & proposed Infrastructure & Connectivity Projects in all the transportation sectors (Air, Rail, Highways, Waterways, Energy & others), as well as suggestions to implement a seamless logistics supply chain & concurrent (National & International).
The NORTH EAST INFRASTRUCTURE CONCLAVE-INVESTMENT GATEWAY TO INDIA was a one-day conclave that showcased the northeastern state governments for investment mobilisation, industry and government interface, and provided helpful inputs to NER State Governments for developing appropriate infrastructure, industrial, and development policies. It also facilitated investments and partnerships, enhancing competitive advantage and accelerating growth. The focus sectors of the conclave were highways, waterways, civil aviation, railways, energy & infrastructure, free trade warehousing zones (ftwz), logistics, msmes, multimodal connectivity, passenger ropeways, tourism & agriculture, warehousing & relevant sectors.
Speaking to business-northeast, Col. Saurabh Sanyal CEO & Secretary General, PHDCCI shared the goal of this conclave, which is to familiarise the northeast region with the industry organisations and business opportunities in this area. According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the current administration is focusing on the North East and the "Act East Policy" has replaced the "Look East Policy."
Sanyal stated that the northeastern region will play a major part as it will have a road link up to Thailand when referring to the Asian Highways 1 & 2 in the India Pacific and SouthEast Asia. This will be one of the first entry points into the broader northeastern area, not just Guwahati.
Since 2015, these conclaves have been held all over India by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The first was conducted in Guwahati, where several state governments were represented. It covered the wide range of possibilities and promise in the North Eastern industries of farmland, natural resources, handloom, and handicraft. “Handloom and handicrafts of Northeast is at par excellence”, mentions CEO.
NORTH EAST INFRASTRUCTURE CONCLAVE-INVESTMENT GATEWAY TO INDIA was inaugurated by Parimal Suklabaidya, Minister of Tansport, Excsie & fishery, Govt. of Assam along with Col. Saurabh Sanyal, CEO, PHDCCI, Dr. Ranjeet Mehta, Deputy Secretary General PHDCCI and few other government officials from PHDCCI.
The conclave also hosted keynote sessions on the NER government's connectivity efforts, the Act East policy, the improvement of roads, highways, and waterways infrastructure, the plan for sustainable multimodal infrastructure, the train environment, and the improvement of aviation connectivity.
We must engage with and help MSMEs and startups if we want to see India at the top. According to Dr. Ranjeet, the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industries endeavors to support businesses and the entrepreneurs by partnering with them. He says that PHDCCI is keen to work with the financial corporations in the northeastern area while speaking to Business-Northeast.
