Giyanni Fungkha, an educational app, aimed at helping Bodo and Assamese-speaking students tackle the challenges of learning mathematics and science has been recently launched. The initiative designed for students in classes 9 and 10 to make learning more accessible and engaging, was discussed during an exclusive interview with Business North East (BNE).

The Giyanni Fungkha app is a unique tool created to assist students facing difficulties with the complexities of subjects like mathematics and science. Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, Biswajit Daimary, who's behind this revolutionary initiative spoke to Business North East and shared the app's broader objective.

Biswajit Daimary said, "We came up with this idea to improve educational outcomes among students in Assam, especially those who speak Bodo and Assamese. He emphasized that many students in these regions struggle with these subjects due to a lack of personalized resources and guidance, and this app seeks to bridge that gap."

The Assam Legislative Assembly speaker further revealed that the app, currently available in Assamese for students in two constituencies, has received an encouraging response from the local student community. More than 4,000 students have already downloaded the app, demonstrating a keen interest in digital learning tools that cater to their linguistic and academic needs.

Biswajit Daimary shared that while the Assamese version is limited to a few constituencies, the Bodo language version is available globally. This expansion is a testament to the inclusivity of the platform designed to reach Bodo-speaking students, not only within Assam but also in regions outside the state, making quality educational resources accessible to a wider audience.

With the increasing reliance on digital platforms for education, the launch of Giyanni Fungkha represents a significant step forward in Assam’s digital education landscape. Biswajit Daimary noted that the app has been developed with the assistance of educationists, developers, and local language experts to ensure that the content is both effective and relevant to students in the region.

The app’s primary focus is on the subjects of mathematics and science, which are often perceived as difficult by students in remote areas due to limited access to quality tutors and learning materials. Giyanni Fungkha is designed to break down complex topics into simpler, more digestible formats, offering step-by-step solutions, interactive quizzes, and video tutorials in Bodo and Assamese, making learning more engaging and less intimidating.

"This initiative is a small but significant step towards empowering students in rural and remote areas, where access to quality education and resources is limited. By using technology, we can ensure that no student is left behind, irrespective of language or location," Biswajit Daimary stated.

Moreover, over 4,000 students have already started benefiting from the app, which is expected to play a crucial role in reducing the dropout rate among students, as it provides easy access to academic support that could help them better understand and excel in challenging subjects. While Giyanni Fungkha is still in its initial stages, Biswajit Daimary shared expansion plans. The app will soon feature more subjects and be available in additional languages to cater to a wider demographic of students across Assam. Moreover, the app will also incorporate feedback from users, which will help in refining its features and expanding its reach.

Biswajit Daimary is hopeful that Giyanni Fungkha will not only assist students in the present but also set the stage for a future where digital education becomes a cornerstone of the state's academic structure.
