Guwahati: For its tenth oil-producing field, ONGC Tripura enters gas sale agreements with GAIL and AGCL. ONGC Tripura Asset has inked Gas Sale Agreements (GSA) with GAIL India and Assam Gas Company Ltd (AGCL) here in Agartala on Thursday, marking a significant step toward the monetization of gas from its future field at Khubal in the Panisagar sub-division of North Tripura district.
The GSAs were signed in the presence of top officials and executives from all three Public Sector organisations by Tarun Malik, Asset Manager of Tripura Asset, on behalf of ONGC, Gokul Chandra Swargiary, MD, AGCL, and R Choudhury, CGM-Zonal Head, GAIL.
Khubal will be ONGC's 10th producing field in Tripura once it begins production, according to a press release from ONGC Tripura Asset.
The GSAs inked on Thursday are for GAIL and AGCL to offtake 50,000 standard cubic metres of gas per day (SCMD), or 0.1 MMSCMD, from ONGC's Khubal GCS (Gas Collecting Station). According to a press release, Khubal GCS will be able to handle 0.44 MMSCMD of gas when construction is complete.
"It marks a momentous occasion not just for ONGC, GAIL, and AGCL but for the people of Northeast as well, as it means more gas will find its way into industry and people's homes, positively impacting living standards," the press release continues, quoting Tarun Malik, Asset Manager of ONGC Tripura Asset.
He added that the greater connectivity made possible by the installation of the IGGL pipeline will encourage local businesses and industries to grow, and that this will have a significant positive impact on the region's economy in the years to come. ONGC is already producing more gas from its fields in Tripura.
