New Delhi: BSNL introduced a variety of new services and actions, including spam blockers, automated SIM kiosks, and direct-to-device services on Tuesday. The government-owned company partnered with CDAC to provide mining operations with low latency 5G connectivity using Indian equipment and BSNL's technical knowledge. BSNL launches aims for 100,000 4G sites, 5G upgrade by mid-2025

BSNL's spam-blocking technology automatically detects and removes phishing scams and harmful text messages to enhance security for the company's customers. Automated SIM kiosks offer users the ability to buy, update, transfer, or change SIM cards at any time of the day using UPI or QR code payments, along with easy KYC integration and access in multiple languages.

According to a statement, the initial direct-to-device connectivity solution in India combines satellite and land-based mobile networks to provide 'consistent connectivity,' which can be beneficial in emergencies and remote areas, and can facilitate UPI payments in those locations. Jyotiraditya Scindia announced the new services and new logo of BSNL, stating that it has been a leading government enterprise that embodies the hopes and expectations of every citizen in our country.

He further expressed the desire for BSNL to continuously lead in technological innovation. The Minister announced that BSNL is expected to have 100,000 4G sites by the middle of next year and upgrade some sites to 5G by that time.
