Guwahati: The Federation of Industry and Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER) has expressed its appreciation for the recent tariff orders issued by the Assam Electricity Commission (AERC), which resulted in a decrease in energy charges by 10p/kWh and a minor increase in fixed charges by Rs. 10/kw in all categories.

Earlier, FINER had filed a petition opposing the proposed power tariff hike by the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL), which included an increase of 250-300p in energy charges and Rs. 50-75 increase in fixed charges. The federation's objections were considered by the AERC, and the recent tariff order reflected a fair and equitable decision, providing relief to MSME consumers, small businesses, and low-income households and small businesses.

The President of FINER, Bajrang Lohia, expressed gratitude to the AERC for taking into account the interests of all consumers, especially those who are vulnerable and least able to bear the burden of tariff hikes. He also appreciated the commission's efforts to promote the economic development of the North Eastern region and expressed a desire to continue engagement with the AERC.
