New Delhi: According to the labour ministry, Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) enrolled 23.05 lakh new employees in the ESI scheme in May 2024.
A total of 20,110 new businesses were added to the ESI scheme in May 2024, providing social security to a larger number of employees, according to the ministry's announcement. Additionally, it was reported that net registration increased by 14 per cent from 20.23 lakh in May 2023. 11.15 lakh of the 23.05 lakh employees added during the month are in the age group of up to 25 years, making up about 48.37 percent of the new registrations.
Furthermore, the number of female members enrolled online was 4.47 lakh by May 2024. A sum of 60 transgender workers were also enrolled in the ESI program in the same month. It was mentioned that the payroll data is preliminary as it is an ongoing process of data generation.
