DRDO chairman Praises DRL Tezpur's innovations

Tezpur: Dr. Samir V Kamat, secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and chairperson of the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), on Friday commended the Defence Research Laboratory (DRL) in Tezpur for its "innovative strides and collaborative initiatives", officials said.

Dr. Kamat lauded DRL Tezpur for its critical contributions to defense technology, emphasizing the importance of their work in advancing national security. Highlighting the practical impact of their research, Kamat handed over licensing agreements for the transfer of technology of anti-microbial and anti-bed bug bed sheets to three industries. "This move marks a significant step towards the commercialization of DRL's pioneering technologies", said an official release.

The visit also saw the release of DRL’s annual report, detailing the laboratory's progress and achievements over the past year. Dr. Kamat praised the dedication of the scientists, officers, and staff, urging them to continue delivering cutting-edge technologies in service of the nation.

Dr. U K Singh, Director General (Life Sciences), underscored the importance of forging strong collaborations with academia and industry to drive translational research. This, he noted, is particularly crucial for addressing the challenges faced by soldiers stationed in the forward areas of the Northeast.

Dr. DV Kamboj, Director of DRL, provided an insightful overview of the laboratory’s pivotal role and notable achievements, reinforcing DRL Tezpur's position as a key player in defense research and development.
