Guwahati: Blum India, which is planning to open 60 more stores across India in the next two years, is also planning to increase its footprint in the Northeast Indian states amid the nationwide expansion.
"India is a very fast-growing economy”, the managing director of Blum India, Nadeem Patni, told Business North East, when asked about the growth of his brand. "We now have a team of over 100 people", he said, adding that Guwahati has also emerged as a "prominent market."
Starting in 1952 and focusing on furniture fittings, Blum manufactures its products in Austria. They have been selling in India for more than 25 years through distributors. Since 2022, they have "established directly in India", Patni said. The company manufactures lift-ups, hinges, pull-out and pocket systems for furniture and provides appropriate services and assembly devices for them. The company recently opened its first-ever Experience Centre in Guwahati, Assam.
"The machines that manufacture the products are also manufactured by us", he said. "We have complete control over quality." The MD further said that they are the only company that gives 20 20-year guarantee, not a warranty.
"The market is getting very educated and people understand the significance of quality", he noted. "It is not that we can expect to grow much in volume as many cheaper products are being sold around here”.
Business North East further questioned the MD whether they have any plans to expand in the Northeast. "Our outlet in Guwahati is the first franchisee in the Northeast and there are more plans. They are already in the making,” he said.
