Guwahati: On the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras on October 29, people in Guwahati are busy purchasing bullions and other precious items. The city is buzzing with excitement, particularly at Rattnanjalee Jewellers. This day marks the arrival of goddess Lakshmi, symbolizing prosperity and fortune, and is considered an ideal time for purchasing valuable items such as Gold or Silver as offerings.
With just two days to go before Diwali, the city’s jewellery shops are adorned and welcoming customers. Rattnanjalee Jewellers, located on GS Road in Christian Basti, has experienced a significant influx of shoppers.
"Since morning, there has been a huge rush, with customers buying gold, silver, and diamonds. Last year, we sold around 2 to 3 crore rupees during the festival, and we expect even higher sales this year," the store manager told Business North East.
One customer at the jewellery store shared, "I buy gold or silver every year; it's a way to invite wealth into our home and pay homage to Goddess Lakshmi."
Meanwhile, the festive spirit is palpable as families prepare to celebrate, underscoring the importance of this special occasion in Indian culture.
