Guwahati: The Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) earlier this week organized a workshop on rural livelihoods to discuss strategies and interventions required at the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) and State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLMs ) of the Northeast to enhance livelihoods of Self Help Group (SHG) women through farm and non-farm interventions, officials said.
The workshop was attended by mission directors and officials from all 8 states of the Northeast. Shailesh Kumar Singh, secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), highlighted the "importance of strengthening community institutions, emphasizing HR policy, timely release of funds, linkages to banks, convergence, and partnership, high-value crops, intensification of livelihoods, supply chain, and market linkage", said a release.
Departments such as agriculture, fisheries, tourism, and tribal affairs should be in the picture in terms of rural livelihoods, he said. The pilot launch of the Digital Aajeevika Register was also performed during the event.
