Guwahati: Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF), the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of Dalmia Bharat Ltd (DBL), has launched an assistant electrician trade program at DIKSHa, in Lanka, focusing on empowering local youth through skill development. The program, powered by NABARD, began on June 10 and featured 30 candidates from Hojai, Assam.
"The demand for trained electricians is growing due to rapid urbanization and technology advancements like smart homes," an official release noted. Many electricians lack formal training, leading to unsafe practices and safety hazards on projects.
"DIKSHa Lanka offers a variety of trades, including retail sales associate, assistant electrician, and CRM - Voice & Non-Voice. To date, DIKSHa Lanka has trained over 500 candidates, with 50% employed and the rest choosing self-employment. The program's impact is evident in the success of its alumni, with trainees earning salaries ranging from Rs 11,000 to Rs 30,000 per month," said the stament.
Dalmia Bharat Foundation focuses on building sustainable livelihoods and ensuring rural development in its programme areas. The foundation says it adopts a "flexible, multi-intervention approach to accommodate differences across locations, allowing programs and people to grow together and sustain each other."
