Guwahati: The Department of Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprises organised a one-day conclave at the Administrative Staff College on August 3 that focused on potential investment and entrepreneurship.
The Minister of Industries and Commerce and Public Enterprises, and Cultural Affairs, Bimal Borah, mentioned in his tweet that the conclave emphasised the departments’ crucial role in the fulfilment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of creating Naya Bharat with a USD 5-trillion economy.
The officials of Bimal Borah’s office informed Business Northeast that this was a review meeting to see how the industrial scenario has been in the region. It was found that some of the districts were performing better but some are lagging behind.
The conclave prioritised the collective intellect and vast reservoirs of the various officers of the corporations and the department. It produced various ideas and strategies to attract potential investors into the state while creating various opportunities to revitalise and propel the entrepreneurial spirit of the state’s entrepreneurial lot.
The conclave emphasised the crucial role played by the DICCs in the growth and proliferation of the MSME sector in the state. It urged all the DICC GMs to actively encourage and support aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners in their respective regions.
This occasion reviewed the progress of Udyam registrations in the state as also the various schemes like the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme and Prime Minister Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme, among others.
