Companies list over 90,800 opportunities on PM internship portal

New Delhi : Sources reported that 193 companies have provided over 90,800 internship positions on the Prime Minister Internship Scheme portal (PMISP) before the start of applicant registration on October 12. Jubilant Foodworks, Maruti Suzuki India, Eicher Motor, Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Muthoot Finance, and Reliance Industries are part of the 193 companies that have provided the opportunities, as per their statement.

On October 3, the portal was activated to allow businesses to share job opportunities. Internships are set to begin on December 2 as part of the pilot project, which is expected to have a budget of approximately Rs 800 crore. It is anticipated that 125,000 candidates will be included in the current fiscal year ending in March 2025.

According to sources from the corporate affairs ministry, the number of opportunities listed on the portal increased to 90,849 on October 11. There are opportunities available in 24 different sectors. The oil, gas & energy sector offers the most opportunities, with travel & hospitality, automotive, and banking and financial services also having significant potential. Sources indicate that opportunities can be found in more than 20 fields such as operations management, production & manufacturing, maintenance, and sales & marketing.

According to the sources, there are opportunities in 737 districts spanning 36 States and Union Territories in terms of geography. The plan, revealed in the Budget 2024, will be carried out via the online platform 'www.pminternship.mca.gov.in' created by the ministry of corporate affairs. The government's goal is to offer internships to one crore individuals aged between 21 and 24 within a span of five years. The intern will be given a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000 for a duration of 12 months along with a one-time sum of Rs 6,000.
