New Delhi: CIL, a government-owned company, reported a decrease of 11.9 per cent in coal production to 46.1 million tonnes (MT) in August. Coal India Ltd (CIL) reported that its coal production was 52.3 MT in the same month of the previous fiscal year, as stated in a filing to the BSE.
Nevertheless, the company's coal production increased to 290.4 MT in the April-August period from 281.5 MT in the previous year, according to the filing.
Coal offload in August fell to 52.1 MT, down from 59.1 MT in the same month of the previous fiscal year. CIL contributes to more than 80 percent of the coal production within the country.
Coal India saw a 10 pc increase in production to 773.6 million tonnes in 2023-24, falling below its target of 780 million tonnes for the year. CIL's output reached 703.2 MT during the previous fiscal year of 2022-23.
