Chandigarh University Lucknow Hosts AI Higher Education Summit 2025

Lucknow: In line with the Centre's focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) under the IndiaAI Mission, Chandigarh University Lucknow hosted the first-ever AI Higher Education Summit in Uttar Pradesh on Friday. The event, themed 'From Classroom to Cloud: Pioneering the AI Future', brought together policymakers, global AI experts, academic and industry leaders, innovators, educators, and students to discuss AI's transformative role in the field of education and its potential to equip youth with essential skills for AI-driven careers.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, the summit's Chief Guest, was joined by other dignitaries, including Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Chandigarh University Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu, Vivek Agrawal (MD, Accenture India Pvt Ltd), GC Tripathi (Chairman, Higher Education Council, Uttar Pradesh), and Jai Inder Singh Sandhu (Managing Director, Chandigarh University). The event also saw participation from industry experts, principals of 200 schools, 30 colleges, and officials from five universities across Uttar Pradesh.

In his keynote address, Deputy CM Pathak praised Chandigarh University for its contributions to education and highlighted India’s progress in AI under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasised AI’s potential to complement human intelligence and urged collective efforts to prepare students for the opportunities it offers.

Chancellor Sandhu shared that Chandigarh University Lucknow has launched AI-augmented multidisciplinary courses to contribute to Uttar Pradesh’s AI growth, aligning with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's vision of establishing an AI city in Lucknow. He stressed the importance of AI literacy and education for driving innovation and empowering individuals across industries.

GC Tripathi, Chairman of the Higher Education Council, noted that AI is a vital tool to reduce pressure on students and teachers while expanding educational opportunities. Vivek Agrawal, MD of Accenture, and Pramod Kumar Jha, Senior Director HR at LTIMindtree, echoed AI’s transformative potential and the need for universities to meet the growing industry demand for AI skills.

Chandigarh University Managing Director Jai Inder Singh Sandhu had earlier emphasised the institution’s commitment to integrating AI across disciplines and collaborating with global companies to provide industry-aligned education. He highlighted AI's applications in agriculture, healthcare, space technology and education.
