Centre sanctions Rs 65.17 Cr for Tripura's MSME growth

Agartala: The Secretary of Industry and Commerce Department, Kiran Gitte, on Saturday informed that the Union Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises has sanctioned Rs 65.17 crores for the development and expansion of MSMEs in the state.

“Tripura has been given this approval for the financial year 2024-25 under the ministry's 'RAMP' programme. Through this, 32,000 educated unemployed youth of the state will be identified and trained in the development and expansion of micro, small, and medium industries over the next three years,” Gitte told Business North East.

He stated that the main objective of the RAMP program is to develop industrial entrepreneurship and marketing skills among the unemployed youth of the state. The secretary mentioned that several investment summits have already been held to increase investment in the state, including the Northeastern region.

“The North Eastern Investment Summit was held on March 6, 2024, in New Delhi, where 14 MoUs worth Rs 1861.51 crores were signed. Of these, 6 investors have already invested Rs 29.85 crores in the state,” Gitte said. He added that 57,114 people have been registered under the Udyam scheme till March 31, 2024.

“With the aim of supporting and empowering workers involved in technical industries, the PM Vishwakarma project was launched nationwide on September 17, 2023. The project aims to promote the skills of artisans and their products. Out of nearly 50,000 applicants, 10,904 people in the state have been registered for training under this scheme as of June 7, 2024,” he said.
