London: A Bengaluru-based AI start-up, sAInaptic, co-founded by data scientists Dr. Rajeshwari Iyer and Kavitha Ravindran, are making waves in the UK education sector by revolutionising the way marking is done in secondary schools. Their innovative app leverages natural language processing and machine learning to mark students' answers and provide personalised feedback, significantly reducing the time teachers spend on grading.

The app, already deployed in over 50 secondary schools across the UK, has the potential to save teachers hundreds of hours annually, allowing them to focus more on classroom teaching. "Our app can accurately mark students' answers and provide instant feedback, so teachers can spend more time in the classroom," said Dr. Iyer, an Imperial College London alumnus with extensive experience in computational neuroscience and data science.

sAInaptic has raised nearly GBP 1 million in funding and is preparing for another funding round. The start-up has also garnered interest from schools and exam boards worldwide, aiming to expand into the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and vocational sectors.

The company's name, sAInaptic, reflects its mission to enhance the learning process, much like the synaptic networks in the human brain that transfer information. The platform is designed for ease of use, allowing teachers to quickly set up their marking process and let the AI handle the bulk of the work.
Supported by Imperial College London's Enterprise Lab, sAInaptic is part of a broader initiative to help start-ups address real-world problems through innovative solutions.
