Assamese film Raghupati nets Rs 11 crore in June

Guwahati: The Assamese film "Raghupati" has been performing exceptionally well in theaters, grossing an impressive Rs 11 crores by June.

With an initial investment of 2.5 crores, the producers are now anticipating a revenue of 15-20 crores upon completion.

The film's producer, Sailen Sarma, talking to Business North East said that they expect "Raghupati" to continue screening in theaters until end of August

Initially shown in 58 halls across Assam, it is currently being screened in 53 halls within the state.

Moreover, the movie has gained popularity beyond Assam and is being showcased in several states, including Maharashtra, Kerala, Telangana, Delhi, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Goa, and Karnataka.

On a daily basis, "Raghupati" is collecting an impressive sum of 25 lakhs.

Sarma added that the film has surpassed all previous records of Assamese cinema.

However, he also acknowledged that in terms of investment, regional cinema like "Raghupati" still falls short compared to national cinema, where the investment levels are considerably higher.
