Assam Royal Global University signs MoUs with colleges

Guwahati: The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) on Wednesday signed Memorandums of Understanding with over 70 colleges from the state to implement several mandates related to outcome-based teaching-learning, undergraduate research, and examination conduct in line with the National Education Policy 2020, and a new faculty recruitment format.

Chancellor A.K. Pansari highlighted the university's commitment to the principles of the National Education Policy 2020 and its focus on promoting inter-disciplinary studies and the Indian Knowledge System and urged institutions to encourage plantations of local flora on their campuses to the scale of micro-forests.

Speaking to Business North East, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) S.P. Singh said, "This is a mega event where around 70 colleges took part. We will visit these colleges for collaborations such as workshops, seminars, etc. The University also has plans to admit the top five students of these colleges for free in the future as part of the collaboration."

"We are expecting more and more industrial collaboration, research and faculty collaboration, and the like", two participant faculty  members from Jawaharlal Nehru College, Boko, Assam and Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, who attended the event, shared with this platform.

RGU's multi-disciplinary courses, such as Behavioural Science and Communicative English, have been part of the university's curriculum since its inception. The university has been providing traditional and non-traditional programs since its inception, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary studies and the vitality of the Indian Knowledge System.

The RGU says it aims to create an environment of liberal education with multidisciplinary, interdisciplinarity, and transdisciplinary functioning within Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and achieve success in implementation efforts, the RGU said in a release.

The university has signed over 195+ Memorandums of Understanding with colleges in the region, aiming to provide an array of knowledge to the student community of Northeast India through mutual collaborations. Notable institutions participating in the signing ceremony include Biswanath College, B.B. Kisan College, Bongaigaon College, Dhemaji College, Dhemaji Commerce College, Bilasipara College, Dhubri Girls' College, Haflong Government College, Duliajan Girls College, Sarupathar College, Mariani College, and Pragjyotish College.
