Guwahati: Assam government's Labour Welfare Department on November 23, 2024 celebrated 'Labour welfare Day' at the Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture in Guwahati. The event was graced by Tea Tribe & Labour Welfare Minister Sanjoy kishan, Additional Chief Secretary B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, District Commissioner Sumit Sattawan among others.
During the event, DC Kamrup Urban Sumit Sattawan in his speech stated, "Kamrup Metro registered 21,6458 number of unorganised workers in E- Shram portal, this year. The labour department provided backwages of around Rs 9,82,265 to the rescued childrens, medical assistance to 25 construction workers amounting to Rs 7 lakhs, death benefits to 8 workers amounting to Rs 7 lakhs and general pension of Rs 8 lakhs to 30 new construction workers."

"Assam labour welfare department expanded nearby Rs 429 Cr for the development and scheme related purposes," Tea Tribe & Labour Welfare Minister Sanjoy Kishan revealed during the event.
