Hemo-dialysis machines are to be installed as a part of the agreement

Guwahati: The Assam Government has entered into agreements with Oil India Rural Development Society and Numaligarh Refinery Limited to enhance healthcare services in the state. Under the agreements, each organization will provide financial assistance of Rs. 2.5 crore as part of their CSR initiatives for procuring hemodialysis machines, officials have informed.

These machines will be installed in dialysis centers to support advanced kidney failure patients, aiming to make dialysis more accessible and reduce patients' out-of-pocket expenses. The machines filter wastes, salts, and fluid from the blood when the kidneys are no longer healthy enough to do this work adequately.

Currently, the Assam Health Department, through the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme, offers free Hemo-Dialysis services at 41 centers equipped with 277 HD machines. To meet the growing demand, an expansion plan includes the installation of 150 additional dialysis machines in 37 new hospitals across the state.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and several other hey officials were present at the ceremony.
