Assam Industry Minister Bimal Bora visits Pepsi India project site at Nalbari

Nalbari: Industry Minister Bimal Bora visited the Greenfield Project at Nalbari, Assam, where Pepsi India has invested over Rs 13,000 crore, setting a production target of 23,000 metric tons per annum.

The project envisions enhancing both direct and indirect job opportunities, while also providing an additional livelihood opportunity by empowering farmers who decide to grow the required potato crop for the manufacturing unit.

According to a release, the company is providing advanced technology, quality seeds, and machinery to farmers, as well as equipping women with valuable skills. The project is part of the government's visionary plan to amend Assam's industrial policy under Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma's leadership

 Bora expressed satisfaction with the 30 percent completion rate achieved by the Department of Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprise, and assured that all necessary steps will be taken to expedite the project's completion and resolve any related issues.
 
The project is part of a larger initiative by Pepsi India to enhance job opportunities and livelihood opportunities in the state.

After Pepsi's foray into Assam, the Tata Group has announced that it will set up a semiconductor manufacturing plant in Jagiroad with an investment of Rs 27,000 crore.
