Guwahati: Ahead of the Assamese Bihu festival, Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary inaugurated the 'ASOMI Bhogali Mela' at the Kajalgaon Market Community Hall on Wednesday. The event organized by the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM) is scheduled from January 8 to January 10. It highlights the region's cultural heritage, traditional crafts and community spirit.
The Mela celebrates Bihu traditions and local craftsmanship while providing a platform for artisans, farmers, and small businesses to connect with a wider audience. It aims to promote economic growth and preserve cultural values through grassroots participation.
A variety of handmade and locally sourced products, including items made by Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from the region, are being showcased at the event. Competitions and cultural performances are also a part of the event, offering opportunities for local talent to shine.
