Guwahati: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) and Assam Power Generation Corporation Ltd (APGCL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday at Arboretum Hall in Diphu for the construction of the 24-megawatt hydro power within Karbi Langpi Hydro Electric Project in the middle of the Borapani River which will be known as Karbi Langpi Middle -2 Project.
The MoU was signed by Assam Power Generation Corporation Ltd.'s Chief General Manager Kanu Kamal Bhuyan and the council's Principal Secretary Mukul Kumar Saikia.
The Chief Executive Member of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang, as well as other Executive Members and top council officials were present at the formal handover of the document.
The 24-Megawatt hydroelectric project was launched with Tuliram Ronghang's assistance, which the Chief General Manager of APGCL commended. He said that this initiative will be advantageous for the autonomous districts of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao.
For 35 years, the agreement will be enforceable. The council authority would give 22.5 hectares of land to APGCL for the $300 billion project's completion. With the help of this project, talented youngsters would be employed, and 171 affected households will receive Rs 34.09 crore in compensation in addition to five years of free domestic power.
The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) will get 6% of APGCL's annual earnings. Departments like Fisheries and Tourism would greatly profit from this endeavour, according to Kanu Kamal Bhuyan.
