Guwahati: KVIC to deliver 458 quintals of mustard oil to Assam Rifles.
Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Assam Rifles to supply 458 quintals of mustard oil worth about Rs. 2.71 crores during 2022-23.
In order to boost the "Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan," which was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, the home minister, gave paramilitary personnel orders to promote local products. The minister also mandated that all of India's CAPF canteens must exclusively offer "swadeshi" goods.
"The expressed mustard oil would be packed in 15 kg square ISI marked tin conforming to BIS standard No. IS: 10325-2000 and 01 litre pet bottle as per the specification of BIS/FSSAI rules as applicable in PAN India," stated the Ministry of MSME.
KVIC will furnish the supply within 45 days of the Assam Rifles issuing the supply order. Only five places, Shillong, Dimapur, Mantripukhri (Imphal), Silchar, and Jorhat, all of which are MGARs for the Assam Rifles, are needed to receive deliveries of goods by road or rail, and only on a freight-paid basis.
"A board of officials appointed by the DG, Assam Rifles would inspect the mustard oil at the consignee's doorstep. From the date of supply to Assam Rifles, the projected mustard oil would have a shelf life of about nine (09) months and be fit for human consumption "said the ministry.
This is the second time that KVIC has inked a contract with the paramilitary forces for the provision of any material, according to KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar, who complimented the Home Minister for his effort. "This was a significant step toward generating long-term local employment at this time."
