Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated advanced healthcare facilities at AIIMS Guwahati, marking a milestone in Northeast India's healthcare infrastructure.
The new services include Drone Services for swift delivery of essential medical supplies, a modern Auditorium, and a Radiotherapy Block equipped with high-end cancer treatment technology like a High-Energy Linear Accelerator, HDR Brachytherapy Unit, and a 4D-CT Simulator. These upgrades will enhance AIIMS Guwahati's capacity to treat complex cases, drive research in cancer care, and train radiation oncology and medical physics experts.
Additional diagnostic advancements include an MRI unit with a 3T scanner, a Biplane Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) Cath Lab for neurovascular interventions, and a Dexa Scan for assessing bone health. A Night Shelter has also been established to provide accommodation for families of patients traveling from distant areas.

Prime Minister Modi reiterated India's commitment to accessible healthcare, emphasizing the five pillars of health policy: preventive care, early detection, affordable treatment, expanded services in smaller towns, and technological integration.
Future plans for AIIMS Guwahati include a trauma evacuation center, a child development and early intervention unit, and a stroke center. With these additions, AIIMS Guwahati is set to become a premier healthcare institution, merging compassion and technology to serve the region’s healthcare needs.
