In a recent conversation with Business North East (BNE), Kohira Diamonds founders Susmita Bajaj and Shalini Kasera revealed the idea behind their jewellery venture is their desire for accessible luxury.
"Natural diamonds have always been too expensive, so we thought a solution that would offer the same luxury and beauty, but at an affordable price," Susmita Bajaj told BNE, while adding that lab-grown diamonds offered by Kohira are identical in composition to natural diamonds, the only difference is their origin.
Lab-grown diamonds are made in labs using advanced technology, making them both sustainable and affordable.
Shalini Kasera revealed that Kohira Diamond's unique offering is its 100 pc Chemical Vapor Deposition diamonds, created in controlled environments to ensure the highest quality. These diamonds come with the assurance of purity and clarity on par with earth-mined diamonds while offering a significantly lower price point.
Regarding jewellery pricing, Shalini Kasera said, "The minimum price for jewellery at Kohira starts at just Rs 5,999, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious consumers."
Kohira Diamonds offers a vast collection, with over 500 designs in-store and more than 3,000 designs available other than affordable prices. "The store also has a lifetime buyback and exchange policy, providing customers with added confidence in their purchase," she told BNE.

Moreover, Kohira has diamond testing machines in-store to differentiate between lab-grown and earth-mined diamonds, ensuring customers can make informed decisions.
While discussing their plans, the founders said, "Kohira plans to expand its presence with more stores and introduce schemes like a 'Kitty Scheme' allowing customers to deposit monthly amounts and receive additional benefits after 11 months."
