Guwahati: The 29th edition of the International Guwahati Trade Fair (IGTF), organised by ITFAA, is all set to take place from September 27 to October 14, 2024, at the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre. As the largest and oldest trade exhibition in Northeast India, the IGTF continues to serve as a major platform for international trade alongside exhibitors from across India.

Every year, numerous countries participate in the International Guwahati Trade Fair. This year, participants from Thailand, Turkey, Afghanistan, Dubai, Korea, Bangladesh, and exhibitors from across India will showcase their products.

Supported by the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, NEDFi, and MSME, Government of India, the event aims to highlight the skills and craftsmanship of artisans and entrepreneurs, offering a wide variety of exclusive products in dedicated stalls and pavilions. State Bank of India (SBI) has come on board as one of the official sponsors, further cementing the prestige of the event.

The timing of the fair, coinciding with the festive season of Durga Puja, promises a shopper’s paradise. Visitors can expect to find a vast range of products, from sarees, ornaments, and Mekhela chadors to carpets, Turkish sweets, perfumes, and handloom items. Brands like Prestige and Hindware will also be present, offering kitchenware, crockery, and other home essentials. Additionally, a diverse range of international products, including Afghan cuisine and Turkish goods, will be available.

The fair has a long history of attracting diverse audiences. Launched nearly three decades ago, the IGTF has grown exponentially, positioning itself as a vital hub for trade and cultural exchange in the region. Its global reach is evident in the participation of businesses and artisans from various countries, and it continues to foster economic connections between the Northeast and the world.

A key highlight of this year’s event will be the "Guwahati Trade Fair Excellence Award," to be presented on September 30 at 5 PM. The award will honour notable individuals from the region for their contributions to business, trade, and community development.

For food lovers, the popular IT restaurant will make a comeback, serving mouthwatering dishes, including traditional Afghan cuisine alongside vegetarian options, making the event not just a shopping destination but a cultural and culinary experience as well.
