Guwahati: A total of 585 start-ups were selected to participate in the first round of Tejaswini Assam Ideathon 2024.
Tejaswini Assam Ideathon 2024 is a business idea contest aimed at identifying and promoting women from Assam with entrepreneurial mindsets, providing solutions to local problems.
“The first round was about pitching their ideas”, said Dr. Sriparna Baruah, advisor to North Eastern Handicrafts and Handloom Development Corporation (NEHHDC). “There were about 1500 applications and we called around 585 start-ups to pitch their ideas.” The start-ups selected were either in their idea stage or in the revenue stage.
The initiative, initiated by the Women's Cell, Industries, and Commerce Department, Government. of Assam, and NEHHDC, aims to provide a platform for entrepreneurial women aged 18-50 to pitch their ideas and gain recognition in a wider network.
The first round was held in Guwahati.
Speaking to Business North East, Baruah said that those who have filled out the application are called. “Among the judges, there were entrepreneurs, some academicians from management institutes, some who were in the ecosystem”, Baruah added.
Around 100 ideas will be short-listed and the next round will be held in August.
One of the participants, speaking to Business North East, said, “This has been a good opportunity for us to showcase their spirit and endeavor.” Each participant got 5 minutes for a presentation and there were 3 panels to listen to the presentations by women entrepreneurs at the East Point Tower in Bamunimaidan, Guwahati on July 16.
