Guwahati: Over 40 participants took part in a market promotion meet of the Coconut Development Board, here on Thursday.
The regional office of Coconut Development Board (CDB) in Guwahati organised the “Market Promotional Meet” in hybrid mode at the ICAR-CIFRI. Participants included entrepreneurs and farmer producer organisations (FPC).
Manufacturers of coconut products from Kerala, like Satish T managing director of Agricoles Natural Foods, K.K.Rafeek, MD of KKR Extractions Private Limited and Monisha K Mohan, MD, Keratech Coconut Oil Manufacturing Company Private Limited attended the meet and exchanged ideas
They took a technical session on “Possibilities of Marketing of Coconut Products in North East India” and interacted with the participants.
Coconut farming is being encouraged in the region and many in Assam are taking up manufacture and sale of coconut products.
The programme was organised to create awareness among the FPCs, entrepreneurs and local manufacturer of coconut products regarding CDB’s market promotional schemes and also to encourage the participants to venture into processing and marketing of coconut sector.
Dr. Rajat Kr. Pal, Director, CDB, Regional Office Guwahati, welcomed all the participants gave introductory remarks. The special invitees including Deepthi Nair S, Director, Marketing, CDB, Head Office, Kochi, Dr. Jesto George, Deputy Director, FSSAI, Narendra Sarawgi, Sr. Policy Advisor, APART, ARIAS Society addressed the participants in various aspects of processing, licensing of food products and financing of coconut processing units respectively.
