Zubaan Publishers has announced research, documentation, archiving, and publishing grants for 2023-2024, aimed at young researchers from the eight northeastern states and the eastern Himalayan region. These grants provide modest funding to support the creation of written, multimedia, visual, and other creative content, focusing on themes such as women's, queer, feminist, and oral histories.

For over a decade, Zubaan Publishers has collaborated with researchers, writers, photographers, and artists to bolster the feminist movement in Northeast India. Their initiatives prioritize knowledge production from indigenous feminist perspectives, providing a platform through books, essays, visual archives, and exhibitions. One of their notable endeavors, *The Fragrance of Peace* project, seeks to challenge and reframe narratives about the Northeast and its neighboring regions within the social, economic, and political landscape of mainland India and beyond.

Now in its sixth year, the research grant program encourages young writers, researchers, and artists to contribute to diversifying knowledge production within a broad framework examined through the lens of gender. Applicants are invited to construct narratives using various mediums, including storytelling, podcasts, visual formats, and research papers. The research and resulting content must be completed within the designated grant period of eight months.

The thematic scope for submissions includes community histories, environmentalism, disability, lived realities, political and social commentary, cultural production, labor and migrant relations, indigenous histories, and more. While final submissions will be in English, Zubaan Publishers has expressed an interest in supporting work in other regional languages in the future. All content created with grant support will be published electronically by Zubaan across various digital platforms.
