Guwahati: The Aditya Birla Health Insurance Company Limited, one of the biggest in the country, recently introduced its latest initiative called 'Activ One.'
Now what is that, one may wonder?
Mayank Bathwal, the CEO of the company, speaking to the press in Guwahati on Wednesday, said that customers, distributors, regulators, government, and even the courts have given instructions to the insurance industry on what benefits it should give to clients. These recommendations include perks related to mental health.
“The effort has been to cover all of these benefits in the product and come up with something that has 100 percent health, 100 percent insurance”, he said. According to the CEO, the product has seven versions for all spectrums of customers - from young customers to customers with health conditions to people who want to go abroad for treatment.
Activ One, which covers chronic health problems like diabetes, asthma, cholesterol, and blood pressure, also has a feature to tackle the inflation problem. "Observing every situation, Activ One has also been introduced to cover outpatient costs", said the CEO.
The company has also added cover for LGBT couples and live-in partners as this is "the reality of society", Bathwal remarked. “The product is comprehensive all inclusive and all convenient."
He added, "The patients will get cashless treatment at any hospital in India. For a planned treatment the patient will be required to tell the company 48 hours in advance. For emergency hospital admissions, the information must be shared with the company within 48 hours of admission."
He further said that the policy is different from other health insurance policies as it "rewards good health." "Some customers will get 100 percent premium back. That money can be used for any other health expenses or the company can repay or renew in the next year", he said.
According to Bathwal, the company has 2.1 crore clients across India.
"In the Northeast region, we had 91,000 customers in the FY 2022-2023", he shared with Business North East. "Further, the total gross written premium in the region is Rs. 39.4 crores."
