Guwahati: Water supply in several localities of Guwahati city will be disrupted on Saturday and Sunday due to the replacement of a 450 mm diameter pumping main from Panbazaar Water Treatment Plant to Sarania Reservoir, the joint commissioner of Guwahati Municipal Co-operation (GMC) informed on Friday.
The replacement work will be carried out by NF Railway and work will be started by Saturday. "The work is expected to be completed within 48 hours", the joint commissioner said, adding that the water supply shall be resumed as and when work is completed. Consumers have been requested to bear with Guwahati Municipal Corporation for these "unavoidable circumstances"
The areas to be affected are Sarania, Ulubari, Lachit Nagar, Gandhi Basti, Rehabari, BK Kakoti Road, Manipuri Basti. B Baruah Road, Kachari Basti and Islampur.
