Guwahati: Union Minister for Law and Justice visits Numaligarh Refinery
Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister for Law and Justice, Govt of India, visited the Numaligarh Refinery and assessed its current operations, including the ongoing major refinery expansion project. He was welcomed by MD NRL Mr. Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan at the Central Control Room and thereafter talked with NRL representatives.
A briefing on the procedures, interlocks, and alarms used in refinery operations as well as a demonstration of the wax packaging process was given to Minister Rijiju. Later, he went to the Assam Bio Refinery Project site, which is close to the refinery and is being used to implement the first-ever 2G Bio Refinery utilising bamboo bio mass as feed stock.
The Minister was earlier given a warm and enthusiastic welcome by CMD OIL Dr. R Rath upon his arrival at Numaligarh Refinery Township on November 27, evening. The performance of NRL and OIL as well as its future plans were also examined on November 28 in the presence of Mr. Ashok Bhattarai, State Vice President of the BJP Assam, Sarupathar MLA Shri Biswajit Phukan, and top OIL and NRL officials.
