Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday said that the state government has initiated the computerization of all 268 LAMPs and PACs in the state.

Large Size Multipurpose Cooperative Society (LAMPS) and Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS) are cooperative stores and societies.

“Cooperative societies play a significant role in ensuring progress. The rural economy will prosper only through the cooperative movement. More awareness should be raised among the people to propel the cooperative sector forward. After Home Minister Amit Shah took charge as the Union ministry of cooperation, the cooperative sector is moving towards further development. ‘Ek Tripura Shrestha Tripura, Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ will be possible only when the economy of the rural areas will prosper,” Saha said observing the 70th Cooperative Week at the Agartala Town Hall.

He mentioned that the Department of Cooperatives has undertaken special initiatives for the development of the cooperative sector in the next five years.

“Without sincerity, transparency, honesty, and enthusiasm among those associated with LAMPs, PACs, and the cooperative movement, this week's celebration will not be a success. One of the objectives of the Ministry of Co-operation is to bring benefits to the people at the grassroots level. This will make the economy more prosperous. The central and state governments are directing the cooperative societies in that direction,” he said.
