Shillong: In line with its vision to support the ‘Skill India’ mission, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced the 'Scholarship program for Technical Education And Recognition' (STAR) under its Toyota Technical Education Programme.
The initiative is aimed at supporting students who have successfully completed 10th standard but unable to pursue their higher studies in technical institutes (ITI/Polytechnics).
With focus on developing the untapped potential of the North East, the STAR initiative will empower and provide opportunities to deserving students from challenging economic backgrounds, said a statement from the company.
This unique pilot programme will benefit a number of students, across 11 states, such as Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkand, Bihar, Nagaland, Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.
Scholarships up to Rs 51,000 per year will be offered to eligible students from financial challenging backgrounds thereby providing opportunities to deserving students covering hostel fees, educational expenses, and family support.
Students can submit their scholarship application at the time of admission at select institutes.
Further, to promote women empowerment, the program offers a 30% reservation for female students. The selection process involves a written test followed by an interview with prior intimation to the eligible students.
