Austin: Elon Musk's Tesla is gearing up for a major announcement next month, as it prepares to unveil its much-anticipated 'Robotaxi' at a special event on October 10. Originally scheduled for August, the event has been rescheduled and is now expected to reveal groundbreaking developments in Tesla's self-driving technology, teased by the tagline "We, Robot," a nod to Isaac Asimov's famous sci-fi novel.

The Robotaxi, rumoured to feature a compact, Cybertruck-like design, has been generating significant buzz since it was first mentioned in April.

Speculation is rife that the fully autonomous vehicle could have no steering wheel or pedals, with some leaked footage hinting at this innovative design.

Reports have also surfaced about a camouflaged prototype being tested at Warner Bros Studios in Los Angeles, where the official launch will be held.

In addition to the Robotaxi, Tesla is expected to showcase its latest Optimus humandid robots, signalling the company's broader ambitions in the field of robotics. Elon Musk has been vocal about his vision for autonomous vehicles, and the Robotaxi is seen as a potential game-changer in the ride-hailing market.

Currently, Tesla's Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) systems provide semiautonomous driving capabilities, but both still require drivers to remain alert and ready to take control if needed. This cautious approach contrasts with competitors like Waymo, which rely on geo-fenced technology for their autonomous vehicles.

With heavy investments in Al and supercomputing, Musk has long aimed for full autonomy, and the upcoming event could be a pivotal moment for Tesla, potentially reshaping urban transportation. Industry experts and Tesla fans alike are eagerly awaiting the reveal to see if the Robotaxi will live up to its hype and transform the future of mobility.
