New Delhi: Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd stated that its implementation of total quality management practices (TQM) has led to a 70 per cent improvement in electricity supply reliability over the last five years. According to a statement from the company, the implementation of TQM practices has significantly contributed to a 30 percent decrease in aggregate technical and commercial losses (AT&C) of Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power DDL) over the last five years, bringing it down to 5.9 percent as of March 2024. As stated, the significant enhancement in supply reliability is vital for guaranteeing a high-quality power supply with minimal unexpected outages and voltage fluctuations.

In 2018, the company implemented the TQM approach to enhance quality standards and enhance customer happiness. During the privatization in July 2002, the AT&C losses, encompassing technical losses and losses from theft, billing inefficiency, payment default, and collection inefficiency, were reported at 53 percent. The actions have enabled Tata Power-DDL to win the prestigious 'Deming Prize', one of the top honors globally.

Tata Power DDL CEO Gajanan S Kale stated that the Deming Prize highlights a commitment to constantly improving and increasing operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. Being successful in this motivates us to keep being the top company in the global power distribution sector, prioritizing excellence and ensuring customer happiness."
