Guwahati: MSME Secretary Subhas Chandra Lal Das urged the states to develop state-specific 10-year strategic road maps tailored to the needs of MSMEs in their regions during the North East MSME Conclave held here on August 31.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised North East MSME Conclave with a focus on creating an enabling business environment for micro, small, and medium enterprises. The conclave aimed to discuss and address challenges related to policy support, credit access, and marketing support for MSMEs.

Das, Secretary of MSME at the Government of India, highlighted three crucial components necessary for fostering an environment conducive to the growth of MSMEs:

Strong Policy Support: A robust central and state policy support system is essential to provide a foundation for MSMEs to thrive.
Streamlined Regulatory Procedures: Simplifying regulatory processes can help ease the operational burden on MSMEs.

Credit Guarantee Support: Extending credit guarantee support is crucial for facilitating the availability of financial resources to MSMEs.

Dr. S. Lakhsmanan, state Secretary of Industries and Commerce, emphasised the improvements in credit availability within Assam, citing a significant 94% increase in sanctioned loans. He expressed commitment to enhancing the implementation of the Public Procurement Policy to further strengthen the MSME sector.
