Spices Board to organise capacity building programme

Guwahati: The Spices Board under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is conducting a collaborative capacity-building programme on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) with the United State Food and Drug Administration (UFDA) and Joint Institute for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (JIFSAN) in the Northeast Region for the farmers and professors.

Efforts will be made for the production and processing of spices with US-FDA in the region for farmers and spice processors at AAU-HRS, Kahikuchi, Guwahati, from June 6-9.

This event will witness the participation of farmers and spices producers from Assam and other states in the region.
Spices Board India informed Business Northeast that India is the largest exporter of spices and Indian spices are exported to 180 destinations. India has crossed $4102.29 million (2021-22) in exporting spices.

To be more competent in the export market, the Spices Board is helping farmers, processors, traders and exporters in various steps of export. Training to bridge the quality gap is of prime importance.
