Scalable and innovative start-ups selected in final round of Tejaswini Assam Ideathon 2024

Guwahati: The final round of the Tejaswini Assam Ideathon 2024 took place at Assam StartUp on August 21-22, spotlighting six key sectors. After a rigorous selection process, 153 candidates advanced to the second round.

The event included a boot camp and pitching sessions on August 21 for participants from outside Kamrup Metro, with the main event held on August 22. Initial pitching rounds were conducted in Guwahati, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Silchar, Tezpur, and Kokrajhar.

A diverse group of mentors volunteered their expertise, providing valuable guidance to participants. Dr. Sriparna Bhuiyan, Advisor to NEHHDC, highlighted the involvement of 39 experts who evaluated the candidates for the final round. "These experts, including entrepreneurs, academicians, and ecosystem enablers such as Assam StartUp, IIE, and NEHHDC, focused on the scalability of ideas, with an emphasis on innovation and technology infusion," she noted.

The selected start-ups span various industries, including cosmetics, candle making, jewelry design, homestays, handmade goods, tech aggregators, and sustainable fashion. The results of the final round will be announced in September.

The boot camp featured eminent speakers, including Dr. Sriparna Baruah, who provided insights on crafting compelling pitches.

Tejaswini Assam Ideathon 2024 is a business idea contest designed to identify and promote women entrepreneurs from Assam who are solving local problems. Organized by the Women’s Cell, Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Assam, in collaboration with the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation Ltd. (NEHHDC) as the implementing agency, the contest offers a platform for women aged 18 to 50 to pitch their ideas and gain recognition in a wider network.

The six sectors highlighted in the contest are Handloom and Handicrafts, Health and Wellness, IT and ITES, Agri-Allied and Food Processing, Leisure, Tourism and Hospitality, and Green and Sustainable Enterprises.
