Kolkata: A Kolkata-based Ripley & Co consortium alongside Bothra Shipping Services from Andhra Pradesh will be injecting Rs 600 crore into upgrading and automating a port berth in Haldia, West Bengal.

The company in charge of stevedoring and handling mentioned that they offered the highest revenue share for the mechanization of Berth No. 5 at Haldia Dock Complex, Syamaprasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata, under a PPP arrangement.

It is a consortium with a 50:50 partnership that will contribute Rs 600 crore to upgrade the berth. Shoumik Bose, the Director of Ripley & Co, informed PTI that they currently manage two additional berths in Haldia. He mentioned that we are anticipating the letter of award to arrive this month.

The project will be implemented following a DBFOT (design, build, finance, operate, and transfer) model for a 15-year concession period.

Ripley & Co Director Prabal Mukherjee stated that Berth No. 5 will offer cutting-edge mechanised equipment for handling dry bulk cargo including coal, limestone, and manganese ore after being mechanised.

The dock will be able to handle 5 million tonnes of cargo per year. The official stated that the project will probably be finished by the end of 2026. At Haldia, Ripley & Co currently manage both berth 2 and 8 .
