RC Hobbytech Solutions Private Limited, a startup from Assam, showcased its innovative solutions at IIM Lucknow’s prestigious Pitch & Partner contest, held under the aegis of TiE Delhi on January 31. The event brought together dynamic entrepreneurs and visionary investors to explore challenges and opportunities in emerging sectors.
Speaking to Business North East (BNE), Ritesh Kanu, co-founder of Drones Tech Lab, shared insights into his startup journey. “Our journey at Drones Tech Lab has been remarkable, driven by a passion for innovation and impact. Over the years, we’ve developed advanced drone solutions for defence, agriculture, industrial inspections, and humanitarian missions like disaster relief during the Amphan cyclone and flood response in Assam. Collaborating with the Indian Army, DRDO, and government bodies has fuelled our growth and inspired new breakthroughs,” Kanu told BNE.
The Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow incubatees, presented a range of disruptive technologies across DeepTech, Fintech, EdTech, and Electric Vehicles (EV). Among the notable participants were Monica Shahi of Storeferry Online Services Private Limited, Manish Jain from Power Profit Technologies Private Limited, Aditya Singhal of Numismatics Academy (NAC), Ritesh Kanu from Drones Tech Lab, Abhiraj Singh of Grootin Music Entertainment, Chandan Singh Gandhi from Daakit Technologies Private Limited, Jithendra Sagar of Vedansh Innovations Pvt Ltd, Jyoti Chakravarti from Mercredi Solution Pvt Ltd, Shriram Kumar of Syncrush Solutions Pvt Ltd, and Rajeev Kumar Singh from Scooton.
Participants engaged in exclusive one-to-one sessions with potential investors, fostering strategic partnerships and exploring funding opportunities. RC Hobbytech Solutions is all set to participate in Aero India 2025, which starts February 10 in Bengaluru. Aero India is a biennial air show and aviation exhibition organised by the Defence Exhibition Organisation, Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence. As India’s premier aerospace and defence exhibition, it attracts global aerospace vendors and features breathtaking aerobatic displays by the Indian Air Force (IAF). The event will conclude on February 14.
Drones Tech Lab generated more than 25 crores in revenue last year, achieving steady financial growth with a profit margin of 4.5 per. The company is now focusing on expanding its capabilities in drone forensics, green energy, and training programs to support India’s technological advancement.

However, Kanu also highlighted the challenges faced by the startup. “One of the biggest challenges in our journey has been navigating the evolving regulatory landscape for drone operations in India. Compliance with dynamic policies while scaling operations requires constant adaptation. Additionally, raising awareness among industries about the full potential of drones beyond surveillance, such as for forensics, inspections, and green energy, remains a hurdle,” Kanu further said.
“Another challenge is attracting and retaining skilled talent in a niche and rapidly evolving technology sector. Despite these obstacles, we stay motivated by the significant impact our innovations have on defence, disaster management, and other critical sectors,” he added.
As RC Hobbytech Solutions prepares for its participation in Aero India 2025, the future looks promising for Assam’s startups, marking their presence on both national and global stages.
