Guwahati: In a  move towards a sustainable future, the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, unveiled the  "Amrit Brikshya Andolan" initiative to plant 1 crore trees, the endeavor set to catalyze a  shift towards a green economy.

Under the canopy of this initiative, Assam envisions the planting of an astounding 1 crore trees within a mere span of two hours.
This isn't just about creating a verdant landscape; it's about laying the foundations for an economically resilient future for the state.
The magnitude of this mission is encapsulated by Assam's ambitious stride to establish not one, but nine Guinness World Records.
These endeavors are not just records; they are a testament to Assam's unwavering commitment to this green transformation. The much-anticipated event is scheduled for the 17th of September, 2023.

In preparation, Chief Minister Sarma reviewed  the program.

He tweeted the core objective of the "Amrit Brikshya Andolan" - to pave the way for a tree-based economy in Assam.
Amidst the whirlwind of this endeavor, the focal point remains on planting a staggering 1 crore commercial tree saplings within the blink of two hours.

This feat transcends its immediate impact; it's a poignant reminder of the pivotal role trees play in shaping an economy that outlasts generations.

To add further impetus, the government offers an alluring incentive. Beyond the initial planting, a financial reward of Rs 200 per plant awaits those trees that weather their first three years of growth successfully.

This pledge reaffirms Chief Minister Sarma's conviction in the potential of these commercial tree varieties to mold a sustainable economy.
