New Delhi: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday held discussions with US defence major Lockheed Martin on opportunities for manufacturing aircraft in India.
According to a PTI report, he held a meeting with a delegation led by Michael Williamson, President at Lockheed Martin International.
"Explored opportunities for manufacturing aircraft in India to further strengthen the 'Make in India' initiative in the aerospace and defence sectors," Goyal wrote on X.
Last year, India marked a significant milestone in the nation's defence-manufacturing landscape after the inauguration of the country's first private military aircraft manufacturing facility in Vadodara. This was a huge shift towards greater self-reliance in defence production, which aligns with the centre's 'Make in India' initiative.
