New Delhi: Sources said on Friday that over 2,200 internship openings have been made available through the Prime Minister Internship Scheme portal, which is currently in a pilot phase. The internship program, expected to cost around Rs 800 crore under the pilot project, will begin on December 2 and aims to reach 1.25 lakh candidates by the end of the current financial year in March 2025.
The plan, unveiled in the 2024 Union Budget, will be carried out using the online platform 'www.pminternship.mca.gov.in' created by the ministry of corporate affairs. It is anticipated that candidate registration will begin on October 12.
The corporate affairs ministry sources reported that there were over 2,200 internship positions available on the portal by 3 pm on Friday. The intern will be given Rs 5,000 per month for 12 months, as well as a one-time grant of Rs 6,000. The government's goal is to offer internships to 1 crore individuals aged 21-24 within a span of 5 years.
