California: Nvidia, a major player in AI and computing, announced on Thursday a series of collaborations with prominent Indian firms and the launch of a Hindi language model, as the company aims to expand its footprint in one of the world's fastest-growing tech markets.
At Nvidia’s AI Summit in Mumbai, CEO Jensen Huang outlined the company’s vision, joined by Bollywood star Akshay Kumar and Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani.

From Software to AI: Nvidia Launches Hindi Language Model to Propel India's AI Export Vision :

“India used to export software; now, it will export AI,” Huang said, emphasising Nvidia's commitment to fostering India’s AI capabilities. As part of its initiatives, Nvidia launched Nemotron-4-Mini-Hindi 4B, a compact language model in Hindi. This smaller-scale model, designed for efficiency, can be deployed on Nvidia hardware by various firms, including Tech Mahindra, which is using it as the basis for its own Hindi AI model, Project Indus 2.0.

Collaborations with major Indian IT firms:

Nvidia also announced collaborations with major Indian IT firms like Infosys, Wipro, and TCS to train 500,000 developers in developing AI-driven applications, helping India bolster its workforce in the emerging AI sector. As growth in some markets slows, Nvidia views India as a promising frontier, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s push to attract global tech investment and bolster India’s semiconductor industry. The country aims to increase its electronics industry’s valuation from 155 billion dollars to 500 billion dollars by 2030.
Reliance Industries, under Ambani’s leadership, also reinforced its ambition to lead in AI, with Reliance Jio setting its sights on extensive AI infrastructure to benefit the nearly one billion Indian internet users. Neil Shah, a partner at Counterpoint Research, remarked that such efforts are paving the way for Nvidia and other companies to tap into vast opportunities within India’s burgeoning AI ecosystem.

Partnership between Reliance and Nvidia create AI infrastructure:

A major partnership between Reliance and Nvidia to create extensive AI infrastructure in India was among the key announcements at the event. Additionally, Nvidia is collaborating with firms such as Yotta and Tata Communications to build out computing capabilities in India. Huang noted that, by year-end, India’s computing power would see a remarkable twentyfold increase over the previous year, marking a significant boost in infrastructure and positioning India as a rising hub in AI innovation.
