NFR Unloads 1,184 Freight Rakes during December 2024

In December 2024, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) unloaded 1,184 freight-carrying rakes, marking the highest number of rakes unloaded in a single month during FY 2024-25. By the end of the month, the total number of unloaded rakes reached 9,404.  

The NFR transported things such as FCI rice, sugar, salt, edible oil, food grains, fertilizer, tank, coal, and other items, unloading them at various goods sheds within its control.  

In Assam, 638 rakes were unloaded, including 314 loaded with essential cargoes.  

In Tripura, 98 rakes were unloaded, while in Nagaland, 13 rakes were unloaded, and 10 rakes were unloaded in Mizoram. In West Bengal, 211 rakes were unloaded, and 195 rakes were unloaded in Bihar.

The efficient execution of doubling works and advanced terminal handling facilities has contributed to the increased inward and outward movement of freight. Continuous monitoring at all levels has reduced turnaround time and improved unloading efficiency.
